Yma’s purpose is to create opportunities for exceptional care. Our focus has been in service to the people of Wales.
But our story doesn’t begin in Wales.
Since Yma was founded in 2020, our team has brought together perspectives shaped by living and working across South Africa, England, Poland, Germany, Kenya, Ireland, Canada and the United States. This breadth of lived experience has helped us bring our purpose to life:
· Our work has been co-produced with patients and carers to understand what matters to people directly impacted by health and care services.
· We have implemented programmes designed to reduce unwarranted variation across pathways of care.
· And we have used population-level data to inform health and care decisions.
We call Wales home, and our international roots run deep.
We care about the impact of health and care on the wellbeing of people in Wales and around the world. Six years of purposeful work in Wales have given us a strong foundation from which to help deliver outcomes that matter, at scale.
As part of the Radical Value Alliance Group, Yma will draw on this experience of delivering health and care transformation in Wales to provide practical implementation support to systems across the UK and internationally.
By bringing together Prof Sally Lewis’s global expertise in value-based healthcare, Dr Rhian Hayward’s experience in innovation and public service, and Sam Horwill’s track record of turning healthcare transformation into practice, Yma is poised to help create exceptional, equitable and sustainable health and care for people in Wales and around the world.
Our first monitoring and evaluation workshop for 6 local VCSEs shared experiences, answered questions, and saw the participants build impact models for their services to support their own evaluation work going forwards.
